Steven Orandello was born on Halloween, October 31, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital. His parents Diane and Steve couldn’t have been happier when they first saw his precious little face and immediately saw big things for his future. Now at 17 years old, Steven is a Junior at General Douglas MacArthur High School and is a successful student and flourishing athlete. He is a popular student and is well-liked among both his peers and teachers. His career aspirations after High School include being a teacher.
Steven is on his High School varsity wrestling team, and his record is impressive. He hopes to be able to get a wrestling scholarship to college. His father, Steven Orandello Sr. couldn’t be more proud of his achievements. He says, “Not only does my son excel in sports but he excels academically as well. He is currently taking college courses to get ahead of the curve. My wife Diane and I are so proud of the young man he has become. We always encourage him to strive to be the best in everything he does, but we also encourage him to have fun at the same time. We never want to pressure Steven to do anything that he’s not happy doing.”
Steven Orandello Jr. is also a First Degree Black Belt in Karate, at Shaolin Self Defense Center in West Babylon, NY. Steven has been practicing Karate since he was four years old. He feels that the discipline and practice of Karate have not only given him self-confidence in all areas of his young adult life, but it has also helped him build strength and focus which are skills that he also applies to wrestling. Steven’s father believes in the principals of Karate and has seen first-hand how his son puts these values to work. “Every day when I see my son performing as well as he does, I know it’s because of the values that Shaolin Temple teaches.” Mr. Orandello states, “My son is respectful to other human beings and really cares about people.” He adds,” Steven understands fully that Karate is not used to harm others but to practice discipline and respect for fellow human beings. He’s just a well-rounded and grounded individual.”
Just like his father, Steven Orandello Sr., he is a car enthusiast. His love of fast cars and watching his father race his Dodge Charger are some of his favorite pastimes when he’s not playing sports. He also likes to watch sports on TV with his friends and family and go to football games. Steven’s favorite team is the Jets.
Steven has also become a mentor to his little brother Vincent. Vincent is eight years old and is following in his big brother’s footsteps he is a 3rd degree Brown belt and also to becoming a great wrestler as well. Vincent recently came in 2nd place at the Ted Peterson Junior Wrestling Tournament. Steven Jr. says, “I’m really proud of my little brother. It makes me feel really good that he looks up to me.”
